Message from President

HIROSHI TANAKA

Established in 1960, Malyne has been manufacturing and marketing high-quality silk innerwear since 1990. By now, I certainly understand the way silk undergarments instantly brighten your spirits and make you break out in a smile when you put them on.
That being said, when I moved to Tokyo in my teenage years, I was driven by an interest not in underwear, but in the apparel industry.
Growing up as the son of an underwear maker, I naturally developed a love of fashion.
Working in the apparel industry in Tokyo, I built up my experience selling the leading Japanese brands of the time, as well as foreign brands.

I had learned first-hand over my many years in the apparel industry that :
• To make what you’re wearing look stylish, cool, and attractive, nice innerwear is a must.
• You can’t show off how great your style is when your innerwear is uncomfortable.
• And, underwear has to be comfortable before it can be anything else. Designs that take into account how it pairs with the length, neckline, and other attributes of the outerwear are essential.
In looking to put these ideas into practice, my sense was not that I needed to get to work on the “underwear of the future.”
Rather, what I felt was that, given that these are the items that people wear the longest over the course of a day, we needed to provide people with innerwear that is both conscientiously designed and easy to care for.
It also needs to be comfortable, and invisible beneath the wearer’s outerwear.

That led me to recognize the great feel and comfort of silk innerwear. I soon started designing high-quality silk innerwear.
My goal is to provide comfortable garments that naturally bring a smile when you put them on.
Every day, together with the whole team here at Malyne, I devote everything I have to achieving that goal.

In the future, Malyne will continue to view underwear as “inner apparel,” and work with an unshakeable commitment to providing our customers with products and services that meet their expectations.

We want to make silk innerwear a part of everyday life for all.
We want you to spend the best of days with items from Malyne. We hope the clothing we make gives you joy and comfort.
